Eddy Robertson & the Electric Blues Band

Fast Eddy

Eddie and his band of cohorts have been a mainstay of the Saskatoon Blues scene for so long it’s hard to remember when they weren’t there. Along with the ever present ( for damned good reason) Blair Finley on lead and Lynn Victoria holding down the bottom there’s no better way to start off the night.

Brian and the Promises

A veteran bluesman who has plied the local blues scenes from Calgary to Austin and back again Brian MacAreavey brings a lifetime of Blues and rock to the stage along with a mature band that knows it’s way around the genre better than the backs of their collective hands. Youth is wasted on the young. Right? These guys are out to prove it.

Jimmy D. Lane

Jimmy may have Blues royalty in his veins, but he’s not resting on those laurels. Son of Muddy Waters’ guitar player Jimmy Rogers this Jimmy has worked with everyone from Clapton to Jimmy Sr. and the list in between is too long to mention here. He can play in the 50’s style of his mentors, but his most formative influence was probably Jimi Hendrix. Need we say more. Blazing guitar solos ensue.

Nigel Mack & the Blues Attack Large Band

Nigel Mack

The prodigal Blues son returns from the confines of Chicago’s southside with a pocket full of horn charts in support of his new album Devil’s Secrets. The multi talented Mr. Mack will be expanding the stage and lettin’ her ride with a set of blues that is sure to please. The perfect ending to great festival kick off night.

Boogie Patrol

Led by Rotten Dan Shinnan’s Cockeresh vocals and sturdy harp playing this Edmonton quintet’s name belies the range of Blues, R&B and Funk that encompasses their energetic live performances. Not that you won’t be boogieing on to the dance floor faster than your feet can carry you, so don’t be late lest you miss the youthful future of the Blues in Canada.

Elmer Ferrer Band

Elmer_Ferrer

Cuban born Torontonian Elmer Ferrer mixes his Latin heritage with a fusion of Blues, Jazz, Rock and Funk to give us a truly original and unique sound. A classically trained convert Elmer’s technical skills on the guitar are never outweighed by his passion for the music. What ever style Elmer and his band are playing in “ the blues are never far away.”

Tracy Nelson

Tracy Nelson

From her introduction to the mavens of Chicago’s Southside Blues scene in the 60’s as an underage neophyte on the arm of Charlie Musselwhite to sharing the stage with the likes of Hendrix and Joplin with Tracy’s band Mother Earth and recording with Irma Thomas and Marcia Ball, these are just the highlights of a long and storied career. But that all being said, the reason you come to hear Tracy Nelson is “ the voice.” It’s always been one of the best in the business and it has gotten nothing but better with age. Tracy is a true professional who will be leading an equally professional six piece band. This show is not to be missed.

David Gogo

David Gogo has been a mainstay of the Electric Blues scene in Western Canada for over a decade. David has twice been given the Maple Blues Award for best Electric Guitar Player, but his passion for the acoustic roots of the genre can plainly be seen in his solo acoustic performances that feature both Blues standards and heartfelt originals. His humour and down to earth personality are as ever present as his1930’s Natonal Steel and 1915 Gibson acoustic. This one will be an acoustic treat.

They’re sure not to disappoint in that venture.

Coco Montoya

Coco Montoya

To say that Coco Montoya is a guitar slinger extraordinaire would not be overstating the facts, but he’s also so much more than that. Blessed with a soulful power house voice and exceptional song writing skills Coco has become one of the truly gifted Blues artists of his generation. Mentored by Albert Collins and an alumni of the Bluesbreakers nothing less than regal lineage of guitar players Coco and his band are a must see.
